Communication Challenge and Strategies

The leadership system in an organization is significant and a huge determinant in most
facets of productivity, majorly the human resource department. Based on the leadership system
and structure of the organization, the employees are highly influenced in terms of their productivity
and general conduct. Specifically, this has a huge impact on first job employees who are brought
on board by an organization. In due time, inevitably issues are prone to emerge pertinent to
communication and group behavioral issues. To begin with, a first job employee is an employee
that is purposed to build proficiency and skills with a short-term intention of working for an
organization. In this regard, the employee is gaining mastery in a given field with intentions of
implementing them in a future career endeavor. In this case, the current organization becomes a
building ground for the employee. This has intensive repercussions in an organization’s workplace.
First and foremost, effective communication, being a crucial aspect in any organization
characterized with success is compromised. In relation to the leadership system of an organization,
the production metrics deployed would include a long-term grooming of employees in the
organization. In the absence of effective communication, production processes are prone to
underperformance. The first issue that would be a vague vision on the organization’s future
prospects, putting into consideration that veteran employee has been going through constant
leadership grooming and long-term sensitization on the general vision and objective. As a result,
the first job employees miss on effectively integrating into the current workforce, seeing that they
lack solid information on the vision of the organization. This is influential putting into
consideration that these first job employees will not be able to effectively communicate with fellow
employees and the managerial staff. The occurrence renders the available communication channels
ineffective hence low performance by set production metrics.

Consequently, poor communication leads to important assignments and tasks going undone
or even poorly done with compromised quality. Poor communication means lack or poor
understanding between task designator and task assignee. The results of this is that deadlines will
fail to be met, and event on meeting them the final products and services delivered will be of low
quality contrary to a client’s requirements and expectation.
In addition to this, there is a possibility of delayed feedback or a total absence of feedback
among fellow employees and between employees and the managerial staff. This leads to a lack of
collaboration between employees and is very influential as it leads to stagnation in production
processes in the organization. In this regard, tasks and activities that would have taken a short
duration of time to complete end up consuming a lot of time to complete. Inevitably, this leads to
low production of both the human resource in the organization and the assets under
implementation. With low production there comes a low return from the investment made on
grooming the human resource and purchase of assets.
Another possible issue in regards to communication would be a situation where employees
and the managerial staff are not open to each other. The resulting phenomenon is that a gap is
created and expanded between fellow employees and with the managerial staff. This more so
comes into place considering that a sense of inferiority sets in for the first job employees.
From time to time, some first job employees would go without receiving crucial
information passed down from the managerial staff to the subordinate employees. First job
employees who do not have access to some modes of communication or who lack conversancy
would miss out on important information being conveyed down to all employees. The

repercussions are incalculable as some assignments would end up being forgotten hence
not done in the required timeframe. In addition to this, first job employees would be mission out
on consistent messages from the managerial staff. This means that there would be no delivery of
feedback from these employees back to supervisors and managerial staff. To some extent, there
would be unclear expectations since first job employees would not be certain of what is required
of them. Consequently, an assignment would be done not according to what is supposed to be
done.
Taking a look on the social behavioral issues that would emerge in the organization,
alienation is the most common possible occurrence due to a sense of inferiority and extensive gap
between units of operation. A first job employee would feel much safer working alone rather than
with a supervisor around them. Significantly, alienation leads to broken and inconsistent
communication between the units of operation. Experienced supervisors and employees would be
intimidating to a fresh first job employee. A factor that would also lead to this is the presence of
personality conflicts between the first job employee and the supervisor, fellow employees or even
the managerial staff.
Another issue that would arise would be poor performance of teams in the workplace. Lack
of collaboration between employees working towards a common goal as a team would compromise
the effectiveness of the team. As a result, there would be no optimum performance hence low
production by the team. One of the reasons that act as a building block to a lack of collaboration
is the presence of personality differences and personal disconnects between a first job employee
and fellow team members. This is critical as it renders a potentially effective and productive team
to become ineffective.

All these would culminate to aggressiveness in the workplace, where a first job employee
shifts focus from productive activities to settling or copping up with interpersonal differences. As
a result of feeling inferior to other employees and the managerial staff, a first job employee would
shift focus on developing mechanisms to come up with the social tension in the workplace.
Passivity is a significant social behavioral issue that would most of the times erupts, where
a first job employee lacks initiative in a task delegated to them. This comes as a result of being
centrally focused on personal development at the expense of the organization’s vision and longterm goals. From the beginning, a fist job employee is focused on gaining skills to better
themselves for future endeavors, often taking little consideration of the organization’s long-term
goals. This is a contributing factor to differing goals and lack of collaboration in the workplace as
well as alienation from the rest of the workforce.
