SUSAN SMITH’S CASE STUDY ANALYSIS
Susan Smith’s case study psychological analysis
In 1994, Susan Smith was arraigned in court for having drowned her two sons as they
slept in the back seat of her car. However, the case relied heavily on her confession owing
that, for nine days, she had continually lied that she did not know the whereabouts of her son
and having nothing to do with their disappearance. However, a number of issues had occurred
in her life prior to committing the act and that were deemed significant in giving her verdict

many traumatizing situations in her past and that were evaluated to have a possible influence
on her actions as had been argued by her attorney.
During the court hearing, the jury judged that Susan was solely responsible for
murdering her two children and thus faced a case of two murders. According to her defense
team, this was against the state and well-being of their client, and thus they needed to prove to
the court that Susan indeed had been compelled to undertaking her actions by other force...
