Girl Scouts of the of America got developed in 1911, however, a year down the line of
operation, the girls’ scouts of west central Florida got formed. Both of the firms have operated
under their coach of their strategies that made them edge against one another. Despite the fact
that people know them as non-profit organizations, they have to compete against each other and
against another non-profit making firm to attract donors and remain relevant and attract the
hugest amount girls’ scouts and also collect the highest amount of revenue for the running of the
firm sufficiently.
According to Amos, (2013), the Girl Scouts of America had a unique generic strategy.
The organization targeted customers through the sale of their cookies in nearly all spheres of the
economy. They developed cakes that they sold consumers as possible that they could reach. The
firm applied the differentiation strategy to position itself at the top of the market. It differentiated
itself through various means that the paper would analyse to a great depth, (Amos, 2013).
The first area of differentiation was the amount of focus that they gave the girls, in the
firm. They focused on increasing the experience of the ladies in the environment. Kachru, (2015)
asserts that another focus got aimed at letting the girls have more playing and leisure time to
perform outdoor activities. The outdoor activities captured at least all the ladies and their
preferences, including, camping, cooking, hiking, canoeing, stargazing, and rock climbing. They
focused on the activities to attract as many ladies as possible. They intended to give them first
impressions and make their stay memorable during their stay in the scouting community.
Implementation of the strategy
The strategy got adequately implemented in a unique manner despite the attributes not
generating positive results. They activities got in place as soon as a lady enrolled in the program,

they learned how to make the cakes. The cakes got sold to people from various locations to
generate income for the firm. The girls likewise had an opportunity to camp during their leisure
period, when the weather was favorable. The other position of the strategy entailed hiking that
many of the ladies loved, (Kachru, 2015).
Functional strategy levels applied
Strategic changes in a bid remain relevant and offer better services to the ladies. The first
instance of functional strategy implied was that they placed less amount of emphasis on
traditional outdoor activities. Wit, and Meyer, (2012) adds that they had anticipated that
modernization was picking, therefore calling on them to adjust as well with the pressure. They
had the impression that social media such as Twitter and Facebook or Instagram had occupied
roots of the main collaboration activities. People took their meetings online and reduced the
chances of them indulging traditional outdoor events. The firm instead asked the learners to
develop their websites that they would apply in marketing the products on behalf of the
organization.
The other functional strategy that they applied involved replacement of leadership
lessons. The girls would receive the means of teaching the young girls on how they could
manage themselves into future leaders. The focus of most nations was on girl child education,
and they also pointed to that as a means of delivering the best to the girl scouts, (Wit, & Meyer,
2012).
Another primary focus of the team was on entrepreneurship, as they realized that

Another useful strategy aimed at reducing the number of marginal Girl Scout centers so
as to focus on the few. Few groups became easier for them to manage when it came to decisionmaking and effective management of the ladies. The limited the number of centers and remained
with mostly manageable groups, (Wit, & Meyer, 2012).
Implementations problems
They tried their best in the implementation of strategies that would generate to them as
many girl scouts, however, the outcome was the opposite of what they had anticipated. Mun,
(2014) asserts that there was a drop in the number of the girls that registered for the process and
activities. The first problem emerged from the case of social media. The media had captured the
attention of the youths. They focused their connection on social sites and did not want to engage
in physical activities. The youths felt that the physical activities were boring.
Another reason for the failed implementation being that they had not made their
anticipations from a global perspective. They limited the scope of their study to America alone.
Other places in the world required differentiated attention. The differentiation was essential
because implementations that suited them, (Mun, 2014).
In as much as they performed a modernization perspective of change, they looked at it
from a single end. The institution would have made sure that the organization applied the social
media sites in their marketing and also enable the girls to use the platform to continue interacting
with many other girl scouts around the globe. They would have increased their network and

reduced the discord among girl scouts in other places. That would have also let them
organizations attract other people from other nations more than willing to join the movement.
Value chain analysis for the United States Scouts Club
The team would have made proper application of value chain analysis as a means of
generating value to the prospective girl scouts and even consumers who ate the cookies to add
more income to the donations that they already engaged themselves. The amalgamation of all
the elements would have placed the organization at a better place so as to obtain other gifts,
(Mun, 2014).
Their areas of focus would be the quality of the cookies so that people would have found
them irresistible to acquire. Hill, and Jones, (2012), another area of concentration would have
been on the range of activities that the girls engaged in which to them they had missed at home.
The girls would delve into activities that not only developed them mentally but also exposed
them to the outside world in the social media. The value chain analysis comes in three essential
stages that the firm may apply in delivering the content to the clients and letting the company
succeed after identifying the problem areas and making the suggestions on how they may get
eliminated or altered to increase the efficiency.
The first process would cover the range of activities that people would engage themselves
to offer excellent services to clients and the girl scouts. Their main areas of focus included
attracting as many girls into the union and providing good services to them, apart from selling
cookies to buyers so as to generate revenue. The other portion would point on the value analysis,
where each activity would get scrutiny on the manner that they best deliver the two services in a
