Running head: PROJECT PROPOSAL 1 Project Proposal Name Professor Course Date PROJECT PROPOSAL 2 Project Proposal The project I am going to take for this week is building residential houses for the Zentech Company staff. The project involves the building of 20 residential units at a piece of land that is close to the company headquarters. Each unit will consist of two bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, and a garage. The project is more of a development of an estate where the employees of the company are going to live for efficiency in operations. The steps involved in the project begin with the foundation of the first unit and develops up to the furnishing of each of the twenty houses. Since it is a mega project, my contracting company will channel all its resources into the project. The completion of the project is set at 14 months from its inception. The project goals are to include the completion of at least half of the units in the first ten months. The goal of completion is set at 14 months, but the handing over ceremony is to come two months after the initial set completion date. The other goal of this project is making quality housing and surroundings for the staff. The third goal is achieving recognition of the company through the quality of work delivered. The specific objectives include utilizing the current workforce and resources efficiently in coming up with quality structures. The company also seeks to build the first green estate exclusively for employees in the town. Another objective is to meet the specific standards set by the client. The customers in the project will be our client’s employees. Since the project is aimed at providing housing solutions to the company, the sole customer is Zentech. The houses have, therefore, to be made to the specifications of the company management. The funding of the project is a joint initiative of the company and the municipal council of the town of Macadamia. The municipality is interested in involving Zentech in hiring the county workers. As a PROJECT PROPOSAL 3 partnership, the council benefits in the hiring process which it outsources to Zentech. The customer, therefore, is Zentech and the stakeholders are both the company and the municipality. The project will be made up of milestones that will ensure the measurement of the project progress is possible. First and foremost, the company has to ensure that the foundations of the twenty units are completed in the first three weeks. Upon completion, the project will take the direction of building each housing unit to completion. The deliverables of this project are ensuring that the compound of each house is completed at around the same time when the house is completed. This move is to ensure that the workers can start moving in as soon the first units are completed. Thirdly, the company should ensure that the houses are identical to avoid biases in the house allocation. Therefore, the company will be attentive to details in the design of the units. So as to achieve the set goals and objectives, the project is going to adopt a strict timeline that has been set by the project management team. As the project manager, my role will be to ensure the goals are met in the set timeline. The first three weeks involve the preparation of resources and bringing up the foundation. The project is divided into three phases. The first phase is the first five months whereby the first ten houses will have been completed. Due to the demand of the project, some houses will be built concurrently to meet the deadline. The second five-month period will involve the building of the rest of the units and the compound. The last four months will be spent doing finishing such as painting, furnishing, and decoration of the houses. The adherence to the detailed work plan will ensure the completion within the stipulated timeline. The cost of the project is estimated according to the number of square feet to be covered. To begin with, each house is estimated to cover 500 square feet. The cost of construction in the PROJECT PROPOSAL 4 town of Macadamia is estimated as 100 dollars per square foot. Therefore, each house will cost 50, 000 dollars from inception to completion. The labor of each house is fifty percent of the total cost which amounts to 25,000 dollars per house. In total, each house will take 75, 000 dollars. The total cost will, therefore, be 1.5 million dollars. The cost is, therefore, set at 2 million dollars such that the 500 can cater for any unplanned occurrences. The project is well-planned. However, it faces several challenges. Most of the challenges pertain to the completion of the project within the stipulated time and budget. The challenges could be tackled through proper planning. However, the biggest challenge is the labor force to achieve the goals. The construction company currently faces a shortage of experienced builders. The project needs a lot of manpower so as to be completed within the duration set. The company can tackle the challenge through a thorough hiring exercise before the inception of the project. The hired builders will sign a contract lasting the fourteen months planned for the project. The success of the building project will heavily rely on the proper management of resources and the ability to follow the timeline and budget properly.
