Here is my information from Discussion Board 2 Purpose statement The major aim of the study is to determine the effects of the reforms on the education system. The reforms used in the education system should be clear, selective and focused. The main aim would be to know what these reforms have on the sector. The measures of the scores of the students and the performance of the school should be assessed using standardized measures. Research Questions • Are the reforms helpful? • What are the characteristics of the reforms? • What are the problems of reforms? Theoretical background The reforms in the education sector are a major determinant of how the performance of schools is rated. There are standardized measures of looking at the scores and how the EDUC 518 teachers perform in these schools. The performance of the teachers clearly show how effective they are in their work. The reforms are at times not done fairly as development funds are issued on the basis of competition. The major problems with the reforms is that there is no elaborate theories that underlie the movement of reforms (Kuyini, 2013). The philosophy that they follow is that education is important for the stability of the economy. This focus narrows the importance of education which is social, ethical and civic development to a democracy. Personal Interests Personally I am interested in finding out the characteristics of the reforms in the education sector and the problems being addressed. The theories of teaching and learning are among the major beliefs that are taken lightly. The reforms are known to focus on the performances and inequalities of the minority and poor students. Reformers mainly focus on addressing the problems that the children from poor backgrounds face. They address the outcomes of such circumstances instead of focusing on the social status and resources inequalities. While this is an appropriate way, it has a narrow focus on the liabilities. The issue of poverty is kept out of the whole picture. The consequences of poverty on schools and households is addressed rarely which downplays poverty. The poor performance can be attributed to lack of motivation and proper techniques by the teachers (Shami & Hussain, 2006). Most reforms do not focus on the students with special needs forming another important aspect that am interested in. Reforms should capture all the students in the sector and the scores used should be well standardized to ensure that the special need students are not left out. Most reforms limit themselves to the system of management and technology. References Kuyini, A. (2013). Ghana's education reform 2007: A realistic proposition or a crisis of vision?. INSTRUCTOR RESPONSE TO MY PROPOSAL…PLEASE FACTOR IN THIS INFORMATION WHEN COMPLETING THE REFERENCE LIST Larry Crites INSTRUCTOR MANAGER RE: Discussion Board 2 COLLAP SE I feel that you have a couple of good ideas in looking at poverty students and special needs students. However, you need to choose one area of reform (reading, math, etc.) and one context (poverty students or special needs students) in order to focus your research study. Let me know if you have questions about my suggestions. EDUC 518 PART TWO OF THE ASSIGNMENT AT LEAST 400 Words Discussion Board Forum 3 You are required to develop a reference list of articles relevant to the research topic that you chose. As you read, note what journals your articles are published in and discuss the following questions: (1) What are some of the most interesting and informative publications (i.e., journals)?; (2) Are they published by a specific professional organization (e.g., National Science Teachers Association; Council for Exceptional Children)?; and (3) Do they seem to be research focused or teacher (i.e. practitioner) focused?

Explanation & Answer

The Challenges Faced by Special Needs Students in Reading Purpose Statement The objective of studying the challenges faced by special needs students is to help eliminate the problem and make the learning process an interesting exercise. Education is the doorway to the future opportunities and giving it to all the children in the society prepares the nation of a bright future with innovative minds. Special needs students face many challenges in the reading process. The challenges include low speed during reading that leads to the distortion of the information and poor pronunciations that do not bring out the anticipated information from the message read. Standardized measures should be implemented. Research Questions How can the determination of the needy students in schools be done?Should they require being in separate classes from the other students? What must be considered during the implementation of the proposed reforms in the education of the special needs students? Are the proposed reforms worth t be implemented and can they solve the problem? Theoretical Background The major reforms relating the education system of the special needs students can be used to determine the work done by the ministry of education in alleviating discrimination among students based on the abilities and nature. Requests need to be made to the education sector for the provision of the required facilities that can help the needy students navigate through the education system smoothly. Every child possesses a talent regardless of ability or disability status. The reform faces challenges in implementing that come from the stigma the students go through in the society. Every child in the community must be given the required care and education to enable them to enjoy the living time as the other children whose needs are fully managed (Pearson, 2006). The eradication of poverty starts with offering education to everyone that will aid in making the economy better by participating in business or the employment sector. Personal Interests In my opinion, I am interested in finding out the characteristics of the reforms in the education sector and the problems being addressed. Teaching and learning are among the disregarded theories in the society. However, through the offering of a good education to the entire children community can aid in bettering the future and preparing the leaders of tomorrow. Reformers mainly focus on addressing the problems that the children from poor backgrounds face. They address the outcomes of such circumstances instead of focusing on the social status and resources inequalities. While this is an appropriate way, it has a narrow focus on the liabilities. A proper motivation and the use of the right techniques in the learning system can enable the needy students to navigate through the education system and become prominent people in the society (Usher, 2004). A majority of the reforms do not focus on the students with special needs forming another important aspect that am interested. Reforms should capture all the students in the sector and the scores used should be well standardized to ensure that the special need students are not left out. References Pearson, A. F. (2006).
