One strand of a single DNA helix is labeled red while the other strand of the same DNA helix is labeled blue. This double helix DNA is replicated through the process of semi-conservative replication. Note that a completely newly synthesized strand of DNA will be white. Predict what the colors of the newly replicated DNAs (both strands) would be, explaining your prediction based on your understanding of semi-conservative replication.

Give an analogy to explain the process of DNA transcription to a friend. Do the same for translation.

Transcribe and translate the following sequence of DNA: TTAACGCCA. There is a mutation that resulted in AAA being inserted after G. Predict how this mutation would impact the product of translation.

Name two enzymes that are needed for DNA replication. Explain the role of each in the doubling of DNA.

Which of the following sequences cannot exist for a mRNA. Explain your answer.

  1. ATTGCC
  2. UTTCTTT
  3. AAAAAA
  4. CCCCC

Some antibiotics are used to kill bacteria by stopping the ribosome from functioning. Based on the central dogma of biology, why is this deadly for bacteria?

A cell has lost its ability to produce tRNA. Explain the consequences of this loss to the cell. Would this cell be able to divide? Explain.

In your own words, explain the cell cycle.

Explanation & Answer

Hello check the paper incase of anything please let me know

The two DNA molecule are synthesized from the parent DNA which consist of red strand and blue
strand. One of them consist of red and white strand while another molecule consist of blue and
white strand. During replication both red and blue strand acts as template over which a newly white
strand is synthesized, hence in each molecule one original parental colored DNA strand (Red or
Blue) and the new white molecule is synthesized. Becuase the replication process follow the
semiconservative mode of replication, so the original parental DNA strand conserved and over
which the new white DNA strand is synthesized.
DNA Transcription involves or is the process where the information found in a strand of DNA is
copied into mRNA that is molecule of messenger RNA.DNA Transcription involve an enzyme
known as RNA polymerase and other protein accessory known as transcription factors.
Transcription factor bind into a DNA sequences which is known as enhancer in order to get RNA
an appropriate site. While DNA translation is a process that involves creations of proteins in the
cytoplasm by the ribosomes this follow the transcription of DNA to RNA .The whole process of
DNA translation involves three phases. In the initial phase the ribosome come together near the
mRNA, in the next phase Elongation amino acids are transferred while finally in the third phase
Termination is reached. (Bruce Alberts, 2014)
Original DNA: TTAACGCCA, the mRNA : AAUUGCGGU, the Mutated DNA : TTAACGAAA
Mutated mRNA: AAUUGCUUU, Amino acid: ASN CYS GLY and Amino acid after mutation:
ASN CYS PHE. Simply transcribed portion =AATTGCGGT (ReferencesDaempfle, 2016)
Mutated species = AATTGAAAT. the mutated species results to a different coding in the
translated mRNA which results to a different nature of protein produced

There are four enzymes that are required during the process of DNA replication they ...
