and physicians practicing in their jurisdiction. These professional boards are in charge of
certification, licensing, and training of health workers. Expectations for the performance of
health workers and healthcare providers are shaped by the professional boards because they
establish norms and policies to be followed. This paper will identify state professional boards

The boards of nursing (BONs) that entail the National Council of State Boards of Nursing
(NCSBN) is a state professional board responsible for protecting the health and welfare of the
