STATEMENT OF CASH FLOW
Introduction
Cash flow Statement is one of the most important and mandatory part of company’s
Financial Statements. This statement tells the source of company’s cash inflow and outflow
during a period. A statement of cash flow helps to determine the availability of cash to meet out
short term liabilities. This statement is very much similar to Income statement, with a difference
that while preparing Income Statement, non-cash transactions, such as Depreciation, Loss or gain
on Sale of Assets are also considered. The cash flow statement is divided in to three parts, which
are Operating Activities, Investing Activities and Financing Activities. An analysis of these three
categories of the statement of cash flow tells the final Inflow or Out flow of Cash. Cash flow
from operating activities determines the inflow or outflow of cash from the main business or
from its core business. The cash flow from investing activities determines the inflow or outflow
of cash from investing activities, like sale or purchase of Asset by the business during the period.
The Cash flow from financing activities determines the inflow or outflow of cash from financing
activities, like Issue of Common Stock, Dividend Paid, Redemption of Bonds.
