The USA Patriot Act 2001 Section 201 focuses in trapping the wired communication
with the aim of protecting and destructing possible contribution by individuals to terror action.
The mandate to interrupt the wired communication comes from the USA Attorney General to the
FBI and other agencies that investigate such terror crimes. This act has had a big impact on the
legal landscape. Basically, interrupting the communication between two individual violates the
privacy right accorded to the parties communicating. The exception of the mandate comes to
protect the country and the citizens from terror attacks. It also defined the extent to which
communication can be legal (Mullan, 2014).
The section 201 of the act has helped the intelligence gather information on the terrorrelated crimes that can be used in killing or causing harm to the country and its citizens. The
Section has been used by the intelligence to detect any plan in the crime such as the use of the
weapon of mass destruction or chemical weapon. The law enforcers have also used the section in
conducting searches to various people who are allegedly involved in terror activities. The law
enforcers conduct a communication surveillance as well as physical search to gather information
about materials that could support terror crime by a foreign individual. This has protected the
