Week 2 scenario; Death with Dignity
The discussions concerning death with dignity are as old as the civilization of man. There
comes a time in the life of a person when they are presented with situations which compel them
to decide that they would want to die. One of these cases is the event where an individual is
suffering from a terminal illness in which medication is not promising to improve their health
standards. In some of these cases, the persons experience great pains that make their lives
miserable. In such situations, some people would wish to be allowed to die and in the process do
away with such pains. While there have been limited legal debates involved, the ethical concerns
have been profound, to say the least. In the recent past, there have been very many some
legislations that have made it legal for individuals to seek to be killed in the event where they
find themselves faced with terminal illnesses.
The laws have not been passed without challenge. There have been a lot of handbrakes
being pulled by individuals and groups such as the religious organizations to the effect that the
sanctity of life must be respected. In the presentation, it emerges very clearly that for this request
to be executed, the doctors must examine the patient and determine whether they are of sound
mind. Besides, they would advise the patients regarding the options that they have at their
disposal (Gardner, 2017). In that regard, there is sufficient reason to believe that people suffering
from terminal illnesses have the rights to seek to die peacefully without going through a lot of
pain.
In conclusion, the right of persons to choose to die peacefully should be defended at all
costs. There is no dignity in living a life full of suffering and absence of hope. The pain through

which individuals go through when they are suffering from such illnesses is tremendous, and
they need to make a choice whether they want to leave or not.

Week three scenario; Prenatal Testing scenario
Human reproduction is one of the areas that have received improvements. So massive
have the improvements been to the extent that parents can know the traits of their children before
they are born. Additionally, the same technology has enabled the parents to know some of the
defects that the unborn baby may have which may, in the long run, affect their future lives. One
of the conditions that the prenatal tests determine is known as the Down's syndrome. When these
tests are conducted, and the results are out, it is always devastating for those parents who have
found out that the children that they are carrying may not have healthy and vibrant lives like the
other kids. Due to such conditions, they may choose to do away with the pregnancies.
From the discussion, it is evident that the modern medications that have improved the
living conditions of individuals who have been found to be living with the Down's syndrome.
There are arguments that those ...
