Indigenous people and other marginalized groups lack representation in state and
corporate-run media. However, they have sought to use different media to both preserve their
culture and tell their stories to the outside world. The indigenous people represent themselves in
various media forms which include feature film, animations, documentary, digital archiving,
video art, among other media forms to ensure that their culture is preserved and also shared to
the outside world (Ginsburg, 2008). Among the various forms of media include the animated
films for children which are produced by Indigenous-owned companies in the U.S. and Canada
whereby the indigenous display share their culture with the outside world.
There is also a documentary which covers the way the Ticuna Indians of Brazil express
their culture to the international community through collaborating with indigenous media to
create a CD-ROM about the knowledge and rituals of the Ticuna. The indigenous scholar’s and
artists have also introduced various projects which share their culture over the internet as a way
of preserving their culture and also to share their story with the international communi...
