Debra LaFave
Child sexual abuser
Debra Jean Beasley infamously and better known for her married former name (Debra Lafave, is
a woman who was a teacher at Angelo L. Greco School in Florida. In the year 2005, she arrested
and charged with sex offence. She pleaded guilty to lascivious or lewd battery and sentenced to
four years of community control.
Debra LaFave can be categorized in fixated group under child sexual abuser because her sexual
desires and preferences centered around children. According to medical records produced in the
court during her trial, her interests in children started during adolescence. laFave was described
by the court as the person who had no healthy sexual contact with the age-appropriate
individuals. She tended to be emotionally immature and was always preoccupied with little boys.
She was targeting young male kids who were not related to her.
According to the evidence that was produced in court LaFave had sexual intercourse and oral sex
with her male young boy student on five different occasions.
However, Debra Lafave can be described as regressed sexual offender. Before committing her
crime she was well married to her ex-husband Owen Lafave. This means that she had normal
sexual interests toward men (encountered with normal partners). Therefore, it is safe to suggest
that she was not naturally interested sexually with young boys but turned to have sexual interests
with children as a mean of coping or substitute for a “good” partner during intense period of
stress. Her behavior can be described as more opportunistic, situational and impulsive.
