Introduction

The US is one of the countries in the world with a very high number of illegal
Immigrants (Bernbach, 2016). The illegal immigrants are not covered by the medical insurance
in the US (Edelman, Mandle & Kudzma, 2014, p. 76). The immigrants, just like the other
citizens are not prone to getting hurt and finding themselves in medical emergencies. The
hospitals get left in a medical dilemma where they more often than not end up spending very
high amounts of undocumented immigrants that get admitted in them with emergency situations.

Luis Jimenez was just another illegal immigrant in Stuart Florida on the morning of 200
before he got hit by a drunk driver (Dolgin, & Dieterich, 2010). He was injured a lot and rushed
to Martin Memorial Hospital. Martin was fond of having had experienced a catastrophic injury to
the spine. The hospital had him for three years before flying him to his country. When the
hospital had him, it saved his life twice and gave free care. The hospital spent amounts more than
$1.5 Million on him. The hospital only received $80,000 from the emergency fund despite the
excessive amounts it spent on Jimenez’s welfare.
Challenge Facing Martin Memorial Hospital
The hospital obtained an order to deport Mr. Jimenez from a county court; the
deportation got done without the consent of Gaspar, his cousin who got charged with making all
his legal decisions due to his incapacity. It also did not notify Guantamara that it was deporting
one of its citizens.
Gaspar, the cousin of Jimenez, filed a case against the hospital (Sack, 2010). The judge
nullified the order given by the lower court and the fact that only federal courts have jurisdiction
