In an occurrence, the response of the disaster response team shows their plan and
preparedness. The team should respond immediately to address the situation. First responders are
trained to respond to any emergency. Before they respond to an occurrence, they need to make a
comprehensive plan that will enable them to coordinate at the scene. Communication is
paramount and helps to coordinate the response team. The first responders are trained to make
decisions as fast as possible before the occurrence turns dangerous even to the response team.
For instance, if the incidence is on fire, the team can decide which extinguishing method to use
and reduce the effects of fire. The kind of response given depends on the prior training,
coordination, planning, and preparation (Chen, 2009). The objective of this paper is to analyze
the first responders and planning, preparation, response, and recovery in the occurrence of an
incidence.
The training of the emergency responders involves creating an awareness that one will be
attending to different disasters involving immense levels of emotional and traumatic physical
pain. They are required to attend, prepare, rescue, treat, and stabilize medical needs of the
victims. The actions and responders will have a significant influence on the victims. The
preparation of the site starts from seeking information from the victims or bystanders (Perry,
2013). As such, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency in communication should be a character of
a responder.
The first responders are required to seek the victims and create a sense of hope, calm,
safety, and connectivity immediately regardless of whether the victim is conscious or
unconscious. The victims are usually under shock and stress. As such, the first responders are
supposed to renew their hope and allow them to calm. This will relieve them off the shock and
will regain confidence. Despite the nature of the disaster, the face of first responders should not
