successful change can bring future success that nothing else can attain. Among the successful
changes that have ever been made occurred at British Airways whereby the company
restructured the entire organization. The changes included reducing the workforce of the
company from 59,000 to 39,000 and the elimination of the routes which were unprofitable for
the organization (Balmer, Stuart, and Greyser, 2009). The organization also modernized its fleet
which aimed at increasing its profitability. The company also repaired its image by hiring a new
marketing team of experts. In preparing for the change, the management started by announcing
layoffs in order to prevent employee backlash and negative criticism from the press regarding the
layoffs.
