Chapter 2 - Who Obeys the Law (discussion)
here are two parts to this assignment/discussion:
Part 1 – Complete your observation
Find a location with traffic stop signs and observe the first 10 male drivers and first 10 female
drivers. They should be alone in the car. Did they make a stop? Yes or no? Tally your results.
Part 2 – Post your results and answer these questions about your experience and this
“research project”.
- What are your results? What do you think your results demonstrate?
- What is the operational definition for this study? (see textbook for definition of operational definition)
- What are your results? What do you think your results demonstrate?
- What was your hypothesis as you made your observations? (see textbook for definition of hypothesis)
- What kind of study is this (correlational or experiment?) Why? What are the variables?
- Why do you think that it specifies that drivers should be alone in the car? How might this affect the results (behavior about obeying the stop sign law)?
- What other factors could be other variables that are not controlled in this study?
- Does this study actually measure “Who Obeys the Law”? Why or why not? Explain.
Complete this assignment and post your results - answer the questions about your experience and this research project. Tally your results. Indicate what location and time of day you made the observation.
