Description

I need to write Secondary Postings (i.e. “Participation postings”) are postings to peers or instructors. These postings are 50 words, posted on time and show initiative, critical thinking and are a substantial contribution to the discussion. These can be postings in agreement/ disagreement with a peer, personal examples of the topic being discussed or any other bit of information that is relevant to the course and contributes to the conversation being held. Watch that all of your postings are not opinion diatribes without backing up your points using peer reviewed material, the text or other reputable source.

the first one:

Initially, I think I would look for all the protocols that a supervisor is supposed to follow from Code 5.0 (Bailey & Burch, 2016). So as a BCBA student completing my fieldwork, I would expect my supervisor to take the lead and follow Code 5 that Bailey & Burch (2016) speak about, to include providing feedback and communicating supervision conditions. However, if I started seeing or experiencing ethical breaches in the supervisee/supervisor contract, I would first try to approach my supervisor in a positive way to voice my concern and make suggestions (from things I have learned from my ethical class) to resolve the ethical issue. Perhaps even suggest we both attend an Ethical workshop for BCBAs or something similar. If the issue is beyond either of ours competencies, I would suggest seeking advice from someone higher up or the BCBA board if necessary. If I ran into the situation when my supervisor simply refuses to correct the ethical breaches, even after trying to bring it to their attention in a positive manner. I would at that time be forced to notify the appropriate authorities that oversee and validate BCBA supervision requirements. If in some way the supervision ethical code breach effected the clients and families via breaching other ethical codes like code 2, I would approach the other party in a professional manner in an outside environment and advise them of the ethical situation that only applies to them (Bailey & Burch, 2016). However, I would still seek advice and guidance from someone higher up, like a another supervisor or someone from the BCBA board, to ensure I handle it professionally and appropriately since this situation is defiantly going to be out of my experience realm at that point in my training.

the second one:

I would first make sure I knew the expectations of a supervisor, by reading over Code 5.0 on (BACB Professional and Ethical compliance code 2014) and would rely on their lead on starting this since I would be new. Being that I am unsure of myself on implementing my new knowledge I don't believe I would have an issue on 5.02-5.06 (BACB Professional and Ethical compliance code 2014) for I would be vocal in my requirements and if I felt I wasn't getting enough positive instruction and time still, I would switch to someone who would.

Then report my issues with the BACB Gateway. If I felt that my supervisor wasn't obeying the ethics of her role, I would find an Ethics CEU and and ask them to take it with me,(whether I needed it or not). They would be more inclined because they could be getting their CEUs' required and it wouldn't be out and out stating I thought them incompetent. Being that I would be vocal about my needs, if the supervisor doesn't have a system to evaluate herself, after our face to face meetings I would either tell them or write a statement of things I liked or thought they may need to address in being a supervisor. That might prompt them to want to implement and change things on their part especially if they are new to supervision and haven't had the ethics class. If these techniques didn't work and the supervisor was inadequate I would find another.
