RFID in my Industry:..................

A Research Paper

Each student is required to research and collect data and information regarding an RFID system that can be integrated into a specific business process to solve a problem in their individual industry, career or field of study. The paper does not require the researcher/author to include a significant amount of technical data about the system, but rather information about the business justification, planning, purchasing, installing, and maintaining of the system. The paper should include: Cover Page, Abstract, Table of Contents, Main Body, References and Attachments.

  • An Introduction– specific description of the business problem that the RFID system will be used to improve or enhance.
  • An overview of the chosen RFID system including:
    • Basics of the RFID components that were chosen
    • Any advances in RFID that are used in the system
    • Any Industry Standards that are used in the system
  • Benefits and/or disadvantages of the RFID system
  • Security concerns or practices associated with the RFID system
  • Impact of implementation - A description of administrative procedures – human and process changes; any Changes in Organization policies or enhancements to include training requirements
  • Appendices (Documentation could include: business case, project plan, etc

In this research paper and students are encouraged to look both inside and outside the box for gaining knowledge about RFID. Much of the information gathered will be through research and should be documented appropriately.

Abstract
TeleTech is a global Company that deals with the safeguarding of the personal
information to its subscribers. It however faces the challenge of how to protect this information
from third party that seem to gain access. As a mitigated measure, the Company is advised to
incorporate the RFID system with a cryptograph combination to prevent access by attackers. The
paper further looked at the three components of RFID that comprise of antenna, reader and the
tag. The RFID has been improved to be useful in various sectors within the divers industries. The
system however, is controlled by the International Standardization of organizations (ISO) and
GS that are responsible for outlining the guidelines and procedures for using the RFID system.
Further, like any other system, the RFID has its benefits and disadvantages that comes with its
use. Caution should however be taken to mitigate against the impending security concerns of the
RFID before its implementation in any company. Albeit the security concerns, the RFID has
generally influenced organizations by cutting down the budget cost by replacing the various
unskilled workers.

Introduction
In this section, the author will highlight the nature of the problem that the RFID system
will be employed to improve in the TeleTech Company.
TeleTech is a company that concerns itself with the collection of the personal data details
of people in order to provide unto them the particular requested services. This personal
information is acquired from the subscribers on their free will. The personal information include
the customer name, postal address, credit card number, telephone number, email address and
other payment account details. However, sometimes this personal information’s is shared with a
third party on their request from the Teletech Company although the company cannot sell it to
them.
The RFID is therefore a very critical system tool that is required by the TeleTech
Company to help them safeguard the personal information of the subscribers from access by the
third parties as long as they continue providing the services to the subscribers. In addition, the
TeleTech Company is in dire need to embrace the RFID system to permit them attain an
obligation standard for the global contractual websites.
The adoption of RFID system by the TeleTech Website Company will enable them to
track their subscribers’ data. Moreover, in the event that the subscriber’s device has to be tracked
given that TeleTech is a global company, it will find it easy to submit the required data to the
targeted location even when the subscriber is overseas. More relieving is the fact that the
TeleTech will be able to provide equivalent protection due to its internal policies. In addition,
with the adoption of the RFID system by the TeleTech will help ensure that the Company
receives email alerts of any complaints related to the violation of the subscriber privacy. In the

end, it builds confidence of the subscriber on the ability of the Teletech Company to protect their
privacy.
The RFID are a small electronic device consisting of a chip capable of carrying 2000
bytes of data and an antenna to provide a unique identifier for an object. It is a technology where
the information stored on a microchip can be read remotely without having to use the RF energy
spectrum.
A basic RFID system consist of three components of the antennae, the transceiver with
decoder and the transponder RF tag which is electrically programmed with a unique information.
The antennae or coil emits radio signals to activate the tag to read and write data on it. It is also
called the reader or the interrogator hence emit the RF signals through the antennae. The
microchip then receives the energy through the attached antenna or the RFID tag that varies the
electromagnetic to its antenna in such a way that the information is transferred to the reader. It
achieves this when the reader emits the radio waves in a range depending on the f...
