McCutcheon was a conservative businessman who was generous and liked giving cash to
politicians and political committees. In the last election cycle in the United States of America,
McCutcheon had donated thousands of dollars to fund the political campaigns. According to his
statements, he could have given more money if the law had not restricted the amount that one
should donate during each election cycle to candidates and politicians. Since McCutcheon was
not satisfied with the restriction, he felt that the law against donations was a violation of the first
