The Prenatal development is the process in which a baby grows from a single cell into an
embryo and later on to a fetus. A person keeps on to develop starting from when one is born to
when one dies. The development process can be divided into physical development,
psychological development, and cognitive development. The prenatal development begins as a
single cell structure up to the time of birth in a tidy and gentle sequence. The prenatal
development takes place in three different stages. The stages include; germinal stage, embryonic
stage, and fetal stage (Deaton, 2015).

a) The germinal stage
The germinal stage takes place in the first and second weeks of one’s life. The DNA of a
mother and that of a father is usually passed on to the child during conception. Conception takes
place when the sperm fertilizes the egg to form a zygote (Berk, 2014). The zygote starts like a
single cell structure which is created by the merging of the sperm and the egg. At this point, the
sex and the makeup of the baby are when it is set. During the week one just after conception, the
zygote divides up and multiplies hence move from a single cell into a two cell structure. Later
on, it multiplies to four cells, eight cells and the chain keeps on increasing as the time goes by.
This process of the cell division is usually referred to as the mitosis. The mitosis process is
usually a fragile process and it is said that less than one-half of the zygotes can survive past the
initial two weeks. Just after five days of the mitosis process, there are around one hundred cells
and just...
