Response to Question one

One of the aspects of UDHR is that of article 1 which emphasizes on brotherhood. It is evident
that the aspect of brotherhood has ceased to exist in the current world. This deviation has resulted
from the ongoing wars amongst nations and religious groups among others. The merciless attacks
initiated by the terrorists have killed the brotherhood that once existed. The revenge has taken over
the world and each party involved reacts with vengeance. This leads to shedding of innocent blood
in the event. Also, the fight for precious resources has taken the lead over the wellbeing of the
citizens. Nations engage in wars in an attempt to win the resources. The outcome is always the
death of innocent citizens.

Another aspect that has diminished is that article 2 which protects the people against any
kind of discrimination. The discrimination aspects mentioned in the article include race, sex,
religion, language, national origin, birth and color among other components. It is evident, in the
current world, that these rights and freedom have lost meaning. Many countries still practice
racism and discrimination against religion. Such countries limit their employment to its race and
ignores the rest of the population. This kind of act promotes division and hatred amongst the
citizens. Furthermore, the Article 7, which explains the rule of law to every person, has been
compromised. This right has lost its meaning in the world of today since the law favors the wealthy
and suppresses the poor. This has been accelerated by the increase in the rate of corruption
affecting courts. (Glendon, 2002).
