Abstract
In the year 1792, the electoral college was born. The electoral college operates by the public
casting votes and a President is selected from specials representatives of the population in the
state (Gregg, 2011, p.34). While the electoral college has deemed itself' efficient for many years,
there have been recent suggestions and actions taken to replace it. Two proposals have made
headway to replace the electoral college with a model Nebraska and Maine currently use, which
allocates two electoral votes to the winner of the state and the remaining to each congressional
district, and the "Agreement Among the States to Elect the President by National Popular Vote"
or NPV (Underhill, 2012, p.9). While there has been headway in the proposed changes, I am not
