Background information
Depression is a mental condition that affects people's ability to have a stable life.
Research has shown that negative impacts are observed where pupils fail to perform as per the
expectations of their teachers. In most cases, pupils start well in school and due to changes in
their homes and other cases changes from one school to the other, performance is affected. The
minds of the young children are fragile so that they easily become affected when they face
challenges in their lives (Yoo, Lee, Lee, Shin, Park, Yoon & Yu, 2016). On the other hand, the
external environment may affect the pupils where they will become stressed up and end up going
into a depression. In the present world, parents are busy in their jobs so that they do not have
enough time for their children. In this case, children do not have people they can look up to or
open up to express their challenges and seek solutions. Teachers have also expressed their
dissatisfaction with some of the parents how have failed to give the pupils time when they are
away from schools.
Studies have shown that most of the pupils that go through depression fail to identify
their potential in schools since they do not also comprehend. The pupils are mentally affected so
that they no longer get to understand topics. They also live in anxiety and have no voice as they
can hardly express what they go through. Before a teacher gets to understand that a pupils going
through depression, it may take time and the child may go into stages that he or she will not have
