Why take this class?
Climate change has gotten the world on its feet. Accumulation of greenhouse gases has
served to threaten the life on the planet, and intensified campaigns have been brought up to
encourage the people all across the world to reduce greenhouse gases by using more of
renewable sources of energy than fossil fuels. Renewable energy consumption is projected to
constitute half of the world’s energy consumption by 2040 with the current level being 12%
(Neslen, 2016). This class is expanding my knowledge of renewable sources of energy. Initially,
I knew that the wind, solar and biogas as the only sources of renewable energy. This class has
expanded my knowledge of renewables in that it has made me aware that we can get renewable
energy from both corn and sugarcane. My aim of taking the class is to broaden my renewable
energy sources knowledge bearing in mind that I want to preserve nature and ensure that
generations which will come after we are gone will have a safe and productive world to live in.

The ethanol production in the country was disrupted by the white house and the environmental
protection when both set volume requirements below what was set by the Congress. Despite
these disruptions, ethanol production has been thriving in the US. Ethanol is known in the
country as beneficial as it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and reduces the petroleum imports
(The Renewable Fuels Association, 2016). Additionally, ethanol’s octane i...
