1. Define the following:
A Right
A Right is an important condition of our social life and without it, no individual can
easily realize his best worth. Such include an essential condition for both the individual’s and
society’s health. As a result, individuals can only develop their full potentials as well as
contribute positively to the society when they are enjoying such rights. Therefore, rights can be
defined as basic entitlements that prevent the performance of certain things or be certain
situations; or such entitlements where others cannot carry out certain things actions be in certain
situations.
Legal right
Legal rights can be defined as the rights that individuals in society have the courtesy of
some legal provisions and that are given by an authorized legal entity. Therefore, certain powers
are legally granted to individuals towards the defense or the realization lawful and just interests
or claims against the rest of the society.
Moral right
These are the rights that are accorded to individuals under certain ethical systems in
society. As such, the rights may be grounded in humanity given the fact that they can be rights
granted to individuals because of being humans, being rational beings, or otherwise. For
example, such rights may include having the right to privacy or being treated fairly which should
not be interfered with by others.

The rights are regarded as norms or moral principles that call for particular standards in
human behavior. These are rights entitled to all persons by the fact that they are humans thus
their universality and inalienable. The concept of such rights is based on the premise that all
individuals should live win dignity. As a result, any infringement of the human rights amount is
tantamount to denying a person his basic humanity (Whelan, 2010).
How are they related?
In most cases, some of these rights overlap. This is evident in the way most of the rights
have certain entitlements or freedoms to the holders. Therefore, an individual holding such rights
may be deemed to be free in a number of ways. For example, in general terms, the powers and
privileges entitle individuals to certain freedoms by acting in particular ways. To further
illustrate the relationship between the various rights, one can look at the privilege-right which
makes a holder be “free to” in terms of not being forbidden. For example, moral rights are into
describing what ought to be, as opposed to legal rights which are rights on the books. Therefore,
the moral rights represent natural laws while legal rights represent the positive law.
It is therefore important to establish the differences existing between "rights" and
"liberties" for example. Liberties are concerned with the basic rights as well as freedoms which
are guaranteed...
