Culture is a solid piece of individuals' lives. It impacts their perspectives, their qualities, their
silliness, their expectations, their loyalties, and their stresses and fears. So when people are
working with other people and building relationships with them, it helps to have some
perspective and understanding of their cultures.

Culture is one of great fact that people are proud of culture assumes a basic part in how people
create and work in a general public; it aides and shapes their qualities, convictions, and conduct
for the duration of their lives (Shweder & LeVine, 1984) Specifically, culture impacts the
observations and practices of clinicians and additionally buyers, including their assumptions with
respect to suitable conduct in social circumstances (Glenn, 2004). Culture is a behavior of people
of how they act, responds, and communicate. In the behavior analysis field, culture competency
plays a huge factor to shape and influence individuals’ behavior. Distinctive societies offer one
of a kind possibility conditions that shape and impact people's conduct (Glenn, 2004; Skinner,
1971). For each individual, culture is characteristics and associations to their families and
communities, especially when it is relevant in the behavior analysis setting. Culture may impact
how a condition impacts an individual and may show as a disorder (culture-bound disorder) and
furthermore influences how these are dealt with (Marsella & Yamada, 2000).

Disability identify from culture perspective

Each culture draws from its own belief system in understanding why some children are born with
disabilities and how they should be treated (Tanner, Turner, Greenwald, Munoz, & Ricks, 1996).
In other words, these cultures have their own way of dealing with children who have disabilities.
For instance, Cho, Singer, and Brennan (2000) in their study found Korean parents experienced a
process of transformation regarding their religion about their children with disabilities. Greeson,
Veach, and Leroy (2001) stated Somali families care about their children with disabilities, seeing
the disability as God’s decision. Kummerer, Lopez-Reyna, and Hughes, (2007) interviewed
Mexican mothers and these mothers varied in their perception of disabilities to the medical cause.
Gabel, (2004) mentioned disability and diversity create extra problems for Asian immigrants.

They have distinct cultural and religious beliefs about having a child with a disability that might
prevent them from reaching out to and getting the help they need. In the Asian community,
negative assumptions are prevalent about disabilities as a form of God’s punishment to the parents
for their sins. Jegatheesan (2009) mentioned that due to the ingrained cultural beliefs of immigrant
parents who have children with disabilities, they were unwilling to share information about their
children with assisting professionals, including special education teachers, consolers, and
therapists. However, as immigrant parent have different perspective about disability, they have
different rate of involvement in their children with disabilities education.

Vang, and Barrera (2004) mentioned Hmong parents of children disabilities were looking for more
knowledge about their children’s education. They were very concerned about seeking education
equity. Kummerer et.al (2007) indicated that Mexican family believe professionals should speak
Spanish and provide information about the therapy process, to promote culturally responsive
