Question Based on the Chapter Nine Case Study, what might Central's committee propose given the potential conflict between the mission of the ACO to improve the health of the patients and the fee-for-service plans of Health First to reimburse based on utilization? In addition, make constructive comments on two answers of fellow students. Agree with the answers and give examples. Disagree with the answers and provide alternatives. Evaluate the information in the answers. Classmate 1 Centrals committee would have to propose an idea where they merged all of their clients into the Health First insurance plan. Health First in turn would have to diminish their fee-for-service plan because they would be gaining most of Central’s patients. Health First should still be able to have the same reimbursement on utilization without the fee for service because they merged with Central’s hospitals so they would be reimbursed based on all of the patients. The compromise would allow Health First to have a larger volume of patients, so they would still be profit driven. However, they would not be able to charge the patients for each service rendered because they would have too many patients waiting which would result in wait times skyrocketing. Classmate 2 We all are aware that most health insurance is out to make a profit and there is no surprise that Health First is also a part of a growing and flourishing business. On the other hand, Central Medical is here to provide the best health care and medical advice that they can provide. How do we bring both together in order to create a place where both Health Plus and Central Medical can give and get what they both want? How can we create a middle ground? The way to improve patient health and Health First fee for service based on procedures that were performed would be to set a reimbursement plan. Creating a central payment plan that is based on jobs rather than what an insurance requires will control how big a profit that a health insurance can gain. Central Medical can also develop a plan to recognize predictive patterns in high-risk patients. We know some people are more at risk for certain illnesses, age, race etc. like Emergency Medical Record and other various data mining equipment that is floating around. Data Mining according to Health Informatics (Brown) is a system set in place that collects information that is fed from medical personnel. The Central Committee is likely to propose an all-inclusive medical cover package. An
all-inclusive plan is different from the fee-for-service plan since the patient does not have to
make separate payments for the different services offered, which is usually costly. The proposal
would be aimed at easing the cost of treatment for patients with terminal illnesses that require
regular treatment, medication as well as check-ups. In the fee-for-service plan, individual
payments are paid for each treatment service separately, and in most cases each of the separate
prices is usua...
