The documentary “Dare to Dream” reveals the journey the U.S women undergo to build a
soccer team. The team starts with Anson Dorrance, who spots young ladies in the juvenile stage,
some of which were in U.S colleagues. April Heinrichs, Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Michele
Akers, and Kristine Lily are some of the players Anson spotted and became pioneers of the U.S
Women Soccer team with April Heinrichs as the first team captain. Anson becomes the coach of
the team from 1986 to 1994. Along the way, Tony Dicicco leads the team as an assistant coach
from 1991 to 1994 and later becomes the coach through subsequent years. The team passes
through ups and downs from the time it is established by Anson to the time it becomes a strong
national team when women soccer is given an attention just like any another soccer. The team’s
changes are observed in progression rising to victory as disclosed in the documentary parts 1
through 3. The documentary “Survive to Advance” explains the birth of the U.S men’s basketball
team to its growth (Arie, 2013). It starts with a small number of young high school boys and
other youths who form a young team under the leadership of Jim Valvano, who becomes the
team’s coach. Valvano, an Italian by origin came into the U.S to look for a job. Coaching the
young basketball team is the job he found, a responsibility he is happy and proud of as he puts
out in his speeches in the documentary. The team also passes through various progressive stages
to become a strong team, with pioneers like Dereck Whittenburg, Thurl Bailey, and Sidney
Lowe. Whittenburg is the North Carolina State team, also known as N.C State or Wolfpack
basketball team. The two documentaries reveal various themes that emerge out in in the actions
of the teams in their journey of development. Some of the themes presented in the documentaries
are similar while others are distinct. Change, ambition, revenge, are themes represented, just to
