Zhuangzi was a Chinese Daoism philosopher who was born c. 369 BCE in Meng, Henan
province and died in 286 BCE (Moeller, pg. 21) His work is considered to be one of the definitive
texts of Daoism and more comprehensive than the Daodejing, which is attributed to Laozi, the first
philosopher of Daoism. His teachings have also had a great influence on Chinese Buddhism
development and landscape painting and poetry of China. Considering his importance in the
Chinese history, his life is not well detailed. The only source of information about his life comes
from Sima Qian, a Han Dynasty historian.
