Q1- Question for all – What's it all about? You have resource conflicts on the Acme project. That is NOT a shock! (Resource conflicts are as common in projects as sawdust at a saw mill… Sigh.) So… what are you going to do about it people?! What kinds of options are available when you have too much to do with the resources at hand in the time frame allotted? We are not talking about what if we are behind schedule (that’s a discussion for the other graded thread), but what do we do if Charlie is looking at five 16 hour days? Class, thoughts, opinions, examples? What does your research and reading say? Q2- So, besides issues with the resource allocation, when we look at our draft project schedule for the Acme project; what we see is the project duration in the schedule (now that we have all the task durations and task relationships entered), doesn't match with what we said in the Project Charter and the Scope Statement! Another common scenario we have is that when we completed our project schedule on the Ajax Project, the scheduled end date matched the stakeholder's requirements. However, now that we are in project execution and about 25% of our scheduled time has passed - we are seriously behind schedule! In either case, we have to deal with "schedule-compression." In this thread we will address questions like how do we do schedule compression, what are the various techniques we can apply, how effective are they? Don't comment here. Reply to my specific questions below. Question for all – So what are our options? Let's say, we know that the current project schedule shows an end date that won't meet our commitments to the project's sponsor/s. We know we have to do schedule-compression. Class from your reading and or experience what are the major techniques we can utilize to help us with this conundrum? Remember to add 3 additional facts per question! Thanks

Question 1: Resolving Resource Conflicts

Notably, resource allocation in project management is the procedure of designating
resources to activities in a program (Kerzner, 2013). Arguably, resource over allocation is a
common phenomenon in project management that often accompanies resource management.
Thus, this section aims at addressing resource conflict, causes, and suggestive methods of
resolving the conflicts.
Resource conflict is caused by assigning resources to activities, which run simultaneously
in a project. Apparently, when calculating the project schedule for starting dates in a task,
projects checks for factors like tasks dependencies as well as constraints. Further, programs
check for resource’s calendar with the main of identifying the next regular working day; thus,
assigning the dates as the starting day for the activity. Worth a note, allowing the project to
calculate the activities starting dates renders the project unable to consider other commitments
that project resource may have led to resource conflicts.
Changing the resource allocations is one of th...
