Breaching of Anthem Inc.
Introduction
Anthem Insurance Company is the second largest health insurances in the U.S.A nation.
Back on February 4 in 2015, the company faced a problem related to the hacking of their

computer system with the aim of obtaining the customer's secret information and document. It is
recorded that the hackers goal was to capture details like the national identity card, passport
details, medical details, street addresses among others (Abelson, Reed and Creswellfeb, Julie,
2015) It is said that the company has got 80million customers and the company’s CEO is at the
risk of having their information stolen. The president stated that it was too late when they
realized that most of their information had been hacked and they are now at the risk of losing the
large amount of money which is sad news to the clients and the company’s employees.
Question 1
What went wrong is that Anthem Inc. had their account information stolen and Anthem
was the target of a well-planned external cyber-attack. Many medical ids were taken, and the
insurance company is at the risk of losing many clients as well as having their funds stolen. It
could have led to the closure of the Anthem Incite hackers were knowledgeable and they started
by searching of information from the systems in the cyber computer to get access to the Anthem
company details. The system of equipment management I the Anthem Inc. is said to have been
incompetent or in conspiracy with the hackers to assist them in getting particulars of the
company.
It didn’t go well since. Eventually, the hackers were able to steal over 10millions client’s
information which is very risky. In that case, the president and the CEO had to incur costs and

other expense to ensure that their system is back to normal and to deactivate all the stolen
information of their customers. The company is also at the risk of being sued by its clients since

it is not in their disclaimer notice to let the information of the client to leak. It surprised the CEO,
and it is said that the breach of the cloud form their consumer's system was not easy since the
president said that the company was well protected and no information of the clients could leak
to any hacker. It thus went too bad since the company had stopped operating and giving their
customers the services required since the procedure to restore and control the problem related to
cloud virtualization had to be organized.
The hackers are said to have had intelligence on clouding and how to breach a company’s
information and the Anthem Inc. insurance company had been their target for the last two years.
