Critical Summary Book: To the Promised Land
The author Michael Boylan narrates the first chapter involving the main character Moses who is
a lawyer that defended a certain plaintiff to win over a case yet he actually knew that assisting
another individual commit a crime makes you as the accomplice a criminal too. Moses had been
aware of his undoings and decided to flee or rather took a French leave maybe for fear of arrest
by the state. Moses secret departure exposed anybody associated with him to federal/state
questioning, and to make matters worse, a suspect would be questioned by the federal
investigation department (FBI).This was a clear sign that the matter at hand may result to grave
consequences if the colleagues won’t disclose the where about of the main suspect ,Moses.
Unfortunately, the FBI inquiry caught up with Peter Simon who was a very close confidant to
Moses. The investigation was led by a vibrant no nonsense investigative officer referred to as
Hoover. The author’s description depicts this individual as someone who has the masculine
power, state authority to act, ability to harass and somehow has a don’t care attitude towards
individuals like peter Simon who is just a mere citizen. After a series of targeted question in
order to expose Moses, Simon Peter seem to whether the storm and was allowed to go home
where he expected to meet Monique to whom too he never found home. He made himself
comfortable recalling how he missed almost every activity on his schedule only to hear the door
