Theories are always a set of relevant concepts, models, propositions and also ideas that are
composed based on certain assumptions and they are always based and formed from the principal
deductive and inductive reasoning.
Nursing theories are a framework that is theoretically aimed to intensively and extensively try to
explain the nursing profession. They are generally divided into 3 categories. That is grand
theories, middle age theories and also the nursing practice theories. We are going to look at the
grand nursing theory and the middle range theories.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THEORIES
For any theory to be used and seen as more effective and convenient there must be certain
consideration put in place. There must be certain qualities it possesses. Some of the
characteristics of an effective theory are;
It must be logical in nature. It must be related to the topic of study and possess similarity. It must
also have some basis of the hypothesis that can be tested and give some reasonable answers. A
good theory must increase the general body knowledge within the discipline through the research
implemented to validate them. It should be consistent with other evaluated theories, principles,
and laws. A good theory can be used by practitioners to be able to improve their practice and
also guide them.

age theory.
