Introduction
The representation of citizens in the House of Representatives is usually dependant on the
population size of people in a given state. There exist several methods that aid in the
determination of the number of seats that each state ought to have. Among them we have the
Hamilton appointment method as well as the Huntington-Hill method. All these methods
employed usually have pros as well as cons. For this case several methods will be examined in
order to determine their suitability as well as shortcomings associated with them when they are
utilized to allocate representatives of states. Additionally, the methods will be compared to other
to determine the best method to use.

Hamilton numbers (HN) are obtained by taking the total population of the state you want
to determine the number and then dividing it by the population of the nation. The value obtained
is the multiplied by 100
E.g. state 1
HN = (15475/532188)*100= 2.908
State 2
HN= (35644/532188)*100= 6.698
State 3
HN= (98756/532188)*100= 18.557
