Abstract
The managed care system has faced deep hatred for long as history shows. Over the years
it has morphed numerous times to adapt to changing dynamics. However, the industry has
overlooked the one stakeholder it ought to give its primary focus – the consumer. The current
backlash the industry faces mostly comes from the consumers. This paper concentrates on the
concept of consumerism and how its effective application to managed health care could change
the landscape of healthcare as we know it. By using resources written by experts in the field, the
