Description
A “topic sentence” of a paragraph contains a limited topic and the writer’s opinion – the “controlling idea” – about the topic. Following the “topic sentence” are specific “details” (or “supporting sentences”) that make up the bulk of the paragraph.

“The task to buy milk and bread seemed simple enough; however, a short walk to the convenience store proved to be one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.”

I believe this is a good topic sentence. It tells what the person was
doing and finds a way to draw you into the story by telling you something
