Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

Solutions to Issues in Developmental Psychology

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, please read the required Baltes (1987) articles for this week.

For your initial post, choose one contemporary issue or problem related to developmental psychology that is prevalent in today's news and research a minimum of one peer-reviewed article on this issue in the Ashford University Library. Evaluate the issue based on one of the theoretical perspectives (Freud’s Psychosexual Theory, Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory, Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development, etc.) that we have studied across this course. Explain how the theory provides a deeper understanding of the contemporary issue. Propose one well-developed solution to address the issue or problem.

Guided Response: Review several of your colleagues’ posts and respond to at least two of your peers by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week. You are encouraged to post your required replies earlier in the week to promote more meaningful and interactive discourse in this discussion.

Were there any contributions by your colleagues’ chosen theoretical perspective that were not included in his or her initial post? How might these contributions have provided more insight into the contemporary issue being considered? Critically examine the proposed solution and reconcile any discrepancies between your colleague’s perspective(s) and your own. Suggest a different solution than your colleague explaining the benefits. Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00 p.m. MST on Day 7 of the week and respond to anyone who replies to your

Vaccination is an important process to infants (children of from age 0 to two years) because they both protected against diseases and they remain healthy. According to Mak, and Saunders, (2016), breast milk is one vaccination method but doesn’t end at that, therefore, need the vaccination that’s important for their survival. Vaccination protects children against diseases and reduces the spread of diseases amongst children. Vaccinations are given to the children through a timeline that’s specified by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The vaccines given to the child get spread across 24 months period and one doesn’t have to remember the schedule themselves, otherwise, it’s guided by doctors.

Children get served with different vaccines that have varied functions in protecting them, for instance, the HepB protects them against HepatitisB and it’s offered in three shots. The first vaccination occurs at birth, and also when one enters a school it’s a requirement. RV protects the infant against rotavirus and also comes in two doses depending on the vaccine that’s used. DTaP is another important vaccination that’s offered to children against pertussis, tetanus, and diphtheria and offered five doses. The vaccine boosters are repeated during adolescent.

Hib vaccines are offered to the child against Haemophilus influenza type b and it’s offered in four doses. PCV protects one against pneumococcal disease in four doses. Infants require IPC to protect them against Polio, whereas the Influenza (flu) protects one against flu and it’s offered annually. The flu shots are offered to children starting six months. The hepatitis vaccine is given to the infant against Hepatitis B.

The article outlines the role of vaccines in the protection of children against various diseases and conditions in the early life of an infant. The breast milk offers protection to the child, but don’t protect the body against certain diseases, thus requires stronger vaccines. The vaccines are offered protection against diseases that impact the life of the child. The vaccines are offered in stages from birth until two years.
