Courts fall in the judicial arm of government which is the arm responsible for the
interpretation and application of the law and the Constitution; as well as solving disputes on
various levels. A court refers to a tribunal that is in most cases an institution created by the
government and mandated with the responsibility to adjudicate disputes in a legal manner with a
sole purpose of ensuring justice is duly served as required by the rule of law (Walker, 1980).
Courts administer justice in criminal, administrative and civil issues with a strict guidance of the
rule of law. Courts form the only legal means through which disputes are resolved. People are
free to bring their disputes before courts just as much as offenders have the right to defend
themselves in the same courts. The venue refers to a place where a court is situated. Proceedings
in a court occur in a room called the courtroom, which is inside a courthouse. Court powers as
