The signs of drug abuse are dissimilar depending on the substance abused. Various drugs
and substances abused have different physical, behavioral and psychological effect on the body
and the life of a human being. Physical effects include changes in the orientation of the eyes and
the pupils. Majority of the people will have bloodshot eyes, and the pupils will either become
small or larger depending on the substance abused. For instance, an individual who consumes
opioids will have tiny pupils while those who consume stimulants will have large and dilated
pupils. People who use marijuana, on the other hand, will have bloodshot and red eyes. Drug and
substance abuse can either cause a drastic gain or loss in body weight (Mayo Clinic, 2014). In
most cases, persons who take marijuana have been victims of weight gain which can be
attributed to decrease in activity levels. Stimulants on the other hand cause reduced appetite, and
the individual may end up losing weight. Drug abuse alters the sleeping habits where those who
take stimulants may spend a couple of days...
