The rivalry between Jomini and Carl von Clausewitz back in
the 19th century slowly graduated in to the defeat of the
United States in the Vietnam war. The two headed the military
with varied theoretical ideas in them; Jomini was a theorist
who’s focused remained to be the battle field while Carl’s
idea was more of a wider scope, focusing on politics, the
social responsibility and the general warfare. While both the
Americans and Vietnamese fought for their territorial
guarding and expansion as well as communism, Vietnamese
fought for safeguarding their territory while Americans fought
with the aim of killing more Vietnamese.

pentagon was formed with the aim of focusing on the
war but later drifted from the initial line of thought.
