Description
This
can be a very challenging topic, but it's more prevalent than people
think: Elder Abuse. It is very much related to the environment in which
the person lives. With a decrease of mobility and independence, one is
more likely to experience abuse. They are dependent on the ones that
care for them and so they are unlikely to report it or say something to
someone. These are the most senior members of our kinship units, yet
sometimes people don't include elders in the conversation pertaining to
family violence.

Elder Abuse
Elder abuse has been a long discussion that has been undergoing for many decades, the
elderly in our community are facing several challenges in their day to day activities that is more
contributed by their relatives or people in charge of them to be their caregiver. Different states in
the United States define Elder abuse depending on their unique statutes and regulations with
researchers giving their interpretation of the same. There is two common abuse that is faced by
the elderly in our community; domestic violence that is as a result of individuals with a special
relationship, for example, spouse, sibling, child or caregiver are the common perpetrators.
Another abuse is institutional that involves mistreatment that is experienced by the victims for

members, in...
