and a higher expectation for everyday comforts for expanding numbers. We live more, approach

backdrop of life on earth. However, we appear to be not so much upbeat but rather more on edge.
Has our buyer culture turned into a revile instead of a cure? We are encompassed by a
materialistic world. Nearly all that we touch or use in our homes, our carports, our workplaces
are the side-effect of an extreme and complex modern framework: from potato to potato chip,
cowhide to situate cover, oil to plastic pen (Liechty, M., 2003).
