The British crown elevated the taxes on sugar and stamps, creating a difficulty on the
colony´s life. Colonists deliberated in a Congress and decided to avoid paying those taxes.
Responding to the colonists, the Parliament decided to cancel the taxes on stamps and
sugar, but elevated taxes on other goods. The response of the British crown to the
manifestation of the colonists against the taxes was the increment of the military control
and the restriction of some liberties, as the right to assembly. Obviously it generated an
escalation of violence.
