In a work place, motivating the employee is an imperative activity that managers strive to
do. Having employees who are motivated and satisfied create a conductive environment for
working. An organization enjoys high productivity and service delivery from employee job
satisfaction. In the corporate world, employees emerge as an important stakeholder. Employee
interacts with the customers on a daily basis. Therefore, if the employees are not satisfied in their
jobs, they extend that dissatisfaction to the customers where they may serve customers without
using standards and polices. This means that if they are not motivated, production per unit
decreases and thus may create excess demand in the market. As such, it is important to ensure
employee job satisfaction is enhanced. To have an effective employee motivation as well as job
satisfaction, management of the oorganization must be ready to meets requirements. In other
words, the example of the ways to motivate employees is to have the proper organizational
reward program. Indeed, every company requires a strategic method to reward employees. An
employee reward system is characterized with four main areas. These include recognition,
benefits, appreciation, and compensation. In today working environment, managers are failing to
incorporate all of these four reward metric while designing reward program to motivate
employees. For instance, most of the reward program is lacking recognition and appreciation
elements while the overall reward system is not aligned with organizational objectives and
strategic goals (Furtado, Aquino & Meir, 2012). Ideally, a well-designed organizational reward
program must address two employee activities. These include performance and behavior. If one
lacks in an overall rewards program, it becomes infective in meeting desired objectives.
Performance employee activity is the most prevalent used metric for rewarding employees.
Managers assess employee’s performance and then reward based on compliance with company
goals. Rewarding behavior is difficulty because it is unmeasurable. Unlike performance, no one
