Speech formats: (1) It must be typed in formal full-sentence outline format with MLA or APA (name, section, etc.)

Eye Contact: You may mark up the speech in any way to represent rate, pitch, volume, or stress. Please mark slashes (//) for breath pauses. One slash (/) represents a slight pause; (//) two slashes represents a longer pause; and (///) three slashes represent the longest pause. Please underline one stress word within each breath pause.

REMEMBER to look down; don’t speak; memorize the breath phrase, which is a thought; look up; and tell an audience member the thought emphasizing with your voice the stress word you underlined. YOU MUST REHEARSE AT HOME.

The relevance of sleep cycles
Introduction
Have you ever wondered what it would be like without sleep? Your guess is as good as
mine. Now, let us go a step further in this line, it seems most people sleep at night. Are there
justifiable and compelling reasons that would make people sleep at night? These are some of the
fundamental questions that scientists, researcher, and psychologists have been grappling with for
a much extended period. In the recent past, however, studies have been done which indicate that
sleep is a valuable phenomenon in human life. The debate on the benefits of sleep has been
raging for a very long time. While some people seem to know about the benefits of sleep to
human beings, many people seem not to know the importance of sleep. To drive the point home,
I am determined to illustrate the relevance and benefits of sleep through the concept that is
known as sleep cycles.
Sleep cycles
At a particular point in your life, I am confident you have been asked the question, "Are
you getting enough sleep?" The answer to this issue is intriguing. Almost always, the answers
that people provide to this issue are incorrect. The ‘enough' of sleep is a complex issue and needs
to be examined in great depth. Let me ask this; are you aware of what happens immediately the
head hits the pillow at night? Well, the answer may be complicated since the most important

The moment you start sleeping, a process is started. The method is called the sleep cycle.
Ordinarily, a sleep cycle lasts for 90 minutes. During the 90 minutes, you will go through a cycle
of changes. The cy...
