Introduction

Wireless communication can be seen to be among the fastest growing segment of the
communication industry. Wireless communication involves the transmission of information
without the need to have wires and cables. Therefore, through wireless communication,
information is conveyed quickly to the users. Besides, as a professional, one can access internet
anywhere and anytime without cables. It is notable that wireless communication architecture has
attracted many people since it allows for mobility where users can have access to information
anywhere at any time without wire connectivity (Hong & Hua, 2007). Wireless communication
systems are easy to deploy and support reachability since users stay connected and reachable at
whenever time. The paper will discuss three configuration topologies that are used in wireless
communication. These include: point to point, point to multipoint, multi-point to point.
Point to point configuration topology
Point to point topology is a communication link between two systems. It is the simplest
as well as the most straightforward way to offer a wireless connection from one place to another
without wires. With point to point topology, it uses directional antennas in providing a technical
communication connection. Organizations are in a position to efficiently and effectively extend
an internet to a remote location through bridging point to point wireless network. With relation to
the height of the antennas, the power level and the frequency utilized, communication can travel
tens of miles to its designated location (Zhu & Yang, 2012).
Point to point topology can be utilized in the case of security. This is possible through a
closed circuit television where towns and cities as well as transportation businesses can ensure
security. Besides, point to point topology is used in transportation where it keeps modes of

transportation connected. However, there are disadvantages in the use of point to point topology.
First, with point to point topology, it has two nodes; this has an implication that for networks that
require more than two nodes, it cannot be utilized. Besides, if one of the two nodes stops
working, there is no information which can be send across the network. Therefore, incase this
happens, the spoiled node needs to be replaced and this takes time and can be costly (Zhu &
Yang, 2012).
