The word "terrorism" is not new. Appearing around 1793, he referred to the "doctrine of the
partisans of the Terror," or state terrorism, and referred above all to a mode of exercising power.
It then resurfaced to describe sometimes anarchist movements, sometimes revolutionary, then
attacks. However, Napoleon himself survived a bombing in 1800, one of the first acts of modern
terrorism, in the sense we know him today. For information purposes, there are four main types
of terrorism: Individual terrorism, initiated by rebels, anarchists, or nihilists, Organized
terrorism, advocated by groups defending different ideologies State terrorism and
