208 PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION Class Exercises 1. Among the service recipients of the PsyR program you work in a number of people have smokers. Some have dry mouth and dental problems. Their blood pressures are high as complained of a great deal of weight gain, lethargy (lack of energy), etc. Many are also well. Your team is considering a number of steps to take, including: Encouraging service recipients to talk to their psychiatrist or advanced nurse practitioner about the possible medication side effects they are experiencing. Having supervisors raise the medication side effect issue with prescribers if an individual service recipient does not do this on his or her own. Adding a nutritional counseling component to your service with or without input of a dietitian or nutritionist. Ensuring each member of your program has an annual check-up or at least has a primary care physician. • Start tracking age-appropriate screenings for cancer and common conditions for each person. Beginning a “smoke enders" group or find this resource in the community. Beginning a light exercise program with the input of a physical therapist or occupational therapist. Occasionally accompanying an anxious person to a doctor or dental visit. Helping service recipients to prepare questions for their health care visits. Developing a series of health literacy lectures on common health topics likely to affect service recipients. a) Which, if any, of these strategies should become a regular part of your program? Which might be done in collaboration with other service providers with your organization coordinating the effort? b) If multiple strategies are chosen, in what order should the steps be taken? Why did you choose that order? 2. Participants in your program occasionally come to you with a personal resolution to lose weight, quit smoking, or achieve another health-promoting goal. This happens often enough that your organization wants to implement a service to support them. What would your advice be on the nature of the services or supports to be offered? fari File Edit View History Bookmarks Window Help 2 2 0) 60% (4) Mon 10:02 PM «Σ fvsu.view.usg.edu As Re Wellness Plan - Sub... wellness plan - Yah... examples of purpos... 50 Example Mission... workplace wellness... Wellness Plan

A wellness plan is a program developed by various health organizations to ensure the
delivery of proper medical services. Such a scheme aims at the improvement of healthcare
delivery through clear-cut therapeutic goals, objectives, mission, and vision in hospital settings.
Additionally, it provides for efficient administrative services in hospitals. Every healthcare
organization endeavors to deliver affordable health services and to improve patients’ living
conditions. The program ascertains that patients lead a healthy lifestyle and access to information
about their nutrition. A wellness plan also ensures health care for the development of a
conducive working environment. An inviting work environment facilitates the delivery of quality
medical services. Additionally, this program grows new programs and approaches for the
provision and delivery of affordable healthcare to clients (O’Keeffe et al., 2016). Therefore, this
study focuses on elaborating on a wellness plan. The study concentrates on a health company
called Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center, which is an organization that focuses on the
improvement of the quality of life for the mentally ill. The company also works to ascertain
community integration by providing and facilitating the creation of opportunities for mentally
disabled persons to achieve different life goals and lead a productive lifestyle (Brown et al.,
2015).
Organizational Mission Statement
The organization’s mission statement is to develop a working relationship between
patients and physicians while facilitating the management of their health care, to improve
medical service delivery and to eliminate quality healthcare barriers.

The institution’s primary objective is to ensure patient satisfaction by removing barriers
that inhibit access to quality healthcare. The group also focuses on developing an appropriate
health culture among patients that facilitates access to affordable healthcare facilities and
services. The organization’s wellness plan, thus, provides mechanisms for delivering costeffective healthcare to underserved populations (Swarbrick et al., 2016). The company
emphasizes on community empowerment by enhancing skill development and propelling valued
social roles in citizens. The company develops novel approaches that provide workable solutions
and mitigation measures to mental illness. Thence, it works together with other communitybased organizations for the delivery of a continuum of affordable and accessible healthcare
services. Psychiatrist Rehabilitation Center also cultivates a healthy working relationship with
pharmacies, physicians, and other health providers who work effortlessly in collaboration with a
select team from the organization to avail drugs and provide occasional checkups to people with
a mental health condition. Patients’ wellness and healthcare, thus, the group’s primary focus.
Providing outstanding and affordable care to clients serves as the team’s primary goal as it seeks
to continually and zealously work to eradicate and possibly unveil a cure for mental illnesses
(Cook et al., 2013).
The organization focuses on the development of a wellness plan that facilitates the
implementation of its various goals and objectives. The different recipients of the organization’s
psychiatrist rehabilitation programs have mainly complained about lethargy and weight gain.
Majority of the clients are smokers; hence, they complain of dry mouth and dental problems.
They also suffer from high blood pressure after years of smoking. The company’s team is,
consequently, considering different steps and activities that will see the existent programs reach a
wider audience in need of help. Psychiatric health problems are mainly associated with mental

illnesses (Mak et al., 2016). Such conditions greatly interfere with individual interactions,
socialization, behavior, and functioning. The company, as such, aims to reduce anxiety and stress
levels among its clients by developing activities that mainly improve the health and living
conditions of patients. Pratt, Gill, Barrett, and Roberts (2013) argues that the development of
different rehabilitation activities, such as physical exercises and therapy, cultivates positive
evolution of health conditions. The authors also postulate that the formulation of person-centered
techniques provides skill improvement, enhances strength and maximizes community values and
responsibilities (Pratt et al., 2013). The following are, therefore, the principal activities the
organization's team will focus on to ensure the attainment of the company's primary goals.

Adding a nutritional counseling component to client’s service with or without input of a
dietitian or a nutritionist

Beginning a light exercising program with the input of a physical therapist or an
occupational therapist

Encouraging service recipients to talk to their psychiatrist or advanced nurse practitioner
about the possible medication side effects prescribers suffer if an individual service
recipient does not do this on his or her own.

Occasionally accompanying an anxious person to a doctor or their dental visit

Beginning a “smoke enders” group or finding this resource in the community

Start tracking age-appropriate screenings for cancer and health conditions for each person

Some of the activities and strategies listed above should also be regular parts of the
programs. The strategies should, thus, be conducted in collaboration with other healthcare
service providers. The strategies that should be part of the regular program include the
development of light exercise programs with the input of a physical therapist, adding a
