Design exercise: Suppose Next Generation Commerce is partnering with Twitter to design an optimized e-commerce experience. Given this change in strategy, what are other opportunities for commerce besides a buy button? Using Sketch, design one use case that you would propose to Twitter. Problem: How could we improve e-commerce Twitter without “Buy Button”? Merchants had the ability not only to cultivate a following, but to sell their products at the same time. It allowed merchants to immediately translate social media vitality into income. Challenge: 1.User will understand the “Cash Tag” 2. How to create a “ Cash Tag” ?- Design a easy way for our user to create a “Cash Tag” 3. ”Cash Tag” Interface Competitive Research: A.Perhaps some picture-based social media sites are better equipped for direct sales, such as Pinterest, which has its own thriving method of translating social media likes into sales (https://about.pinterest.com/en/shopping-pinterest). B. Facebook launches Marketplace to let you buy and sell items with nearby users. They sell items directly, but they create a section for users who want to buy and sell on Facebook. If users don’t want to buy or sell they wouldn’t check this section, or click this “icon”. After the competitive research, I think Pinterest case is more suitable for Twitter. Because Twitter strategy. Twitter is simple, which makes it fast and responsive. By limiting characters and content, Twitter gets to the point – and fast! This is key to its mobile use and indeed the best thing about Twitter. It’s live, responsive and stuff gets done – fast! So we have to keep it simple, “indirect”sell. User Cases: Persona A : 20-30 years old Live alone Does have disposable income Large social network Middle or upper middle class After a busy day, he checks on his social media app(Twitter). He always post funny thing; and keep in touch with friends and meet new people as well. Until he saw “ buy button” he doesn’t want to buy anything for now, but he is keep seeing the “buy button”. Then he open his Facebook app and socialize with his friends. He may want to buy something, but not for now. He use Twitter for socialized with his friends, and check some funny posts. However, he saw too many buy button, which make him uncomfortable. He’s thinking this is a social app or shopping app?? If not, why they try to sell stuffs so hard? Instead of another complicated button that may confuse new users, repurpose the "cashtag," which I feel was never brought to its full potential when it was relegated to marketing stock tickers, e.g. $AAPL. Instead, if I put the cashtag in front of a link, such as $https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook, it can show a dollar symbol in front of the link, or turn the link blue, indicating it's a link for purchasing an item. This doesn't interfere with the site's UI as much. It also may be confusing new users, which Twitter is desperately trying to attract. User Flow: Twitter Flow: Click Twitter Post Icon->write a message @ someone/ #-> pop up some options to ask user to choose CashTag Flow: Click Twitter Post Icon->write a message $ something -> pop up some options to ask you put a link here. Click Twitter Post Icon->write a message $ something -> pop up some options to create a selling message, it will ask you to put the details: item name, price, upload the image, item description, size option or details.
