The New Jazz Groove

Dave Scott performed the second performance I attended, and it was about the New Jazz
Groove which took place in Harrah’s Corked Lounge. The concert took place on Thursday 5,
October 2017 and it began at 8.00 PM. By that time, the hall was full; this is because the group is
one of the most famous Jazz performers in the City. The performance was expected to end at 11
PM, but it extended due to the demands from the crowd. Some of the songs performed on that
day included; “Magnify the King,” “Well done,” “Afterlife,” “Never Will a Rock,” and “You’re
on Drugs.” All the songs involved a Latin jazz music well known for its characterized by
electrifying sounds with a steady groove (backbeat). All this excellent output is as a result of the
integration of soul, R&B, and funk which is characterized by vocal and arranged than the soul
jazz which creates a strong feeling of the groove music when is performed. The venue was
organized in such a way the audience could Cleary see the all the musicians playing the different

as it electrified the entire hall. The drums gradually slowed, the percussionist created a unique
beat which matched with the base from the guitar. After a minute, the trumpeter changed the tone
of the music and at the same time increasing the tempo; marking the climax of the song and the
quartet ended their performance with their danceable tunes which made the crowd dance to it.
The second song performed was the “Down the Line” which began with a smoothening
trumpet and drum beats. The tempo of the performance stayed slow with the guidance of the
three trumpeters. After a minute, the sounds from the piano guide and the slow beats from the
drum with only one trumpeter was performing. Dave Scott slowly increased the tempo of the
music thus changing its homophonic texture. The performance gradually changed its pace with
the trumpets increasing their sounds which signified the climax of the music, at this time, all the
percussionist ensured were all playing th...
